My friends and I are launching an advertising/political material for our start-up business. We just came fresh from college and we decided to put up a small software company. On April 23, we will be giving out custom promotional mouse pads to serve both as marketing materials for our business and sort of like a political campaign.

Why did I say it’s a form of a campaign? Well, with the advent of technologies like file-sharing, online streaming and other forms of transferring data, any line of business associated with software is prone to being pirated. This global problem does not choose who to copy and illegally distribute. And as a new software company, we also run the risk of going down because of the problem. We will use the custom promotional soft cover mouse pads to remind people of this issue.

We have big dreams for the company, and we have no plans of giving in to piracy any time soon. All the hard work that programmers exert in their work just goes down the drain because of this form of intellectual theft. Software developers must be compensated with what they do, just like how doctors bill their patients.

As I said, we are just starting up and we don’t have much capital to spend. Our plan was to make and imprint of our brand logo design and a simple reminder about piracy below that. We will give a mousepad to all persons we know (or at least a majority of them). Through this, we can also make our brand known to the market.

The custom promotional hard cover mousepads hopefully will both give us the promotion we need and send the message to the public. I’m quite hopeful that our business will eventually be popular in the market with these products.
